REVIEW: Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

Hello, beauty lovers! If you watched my GenBeauty Toronto Haul video (or any other attendee's video), then you would know that I received a full sized product of the Too Faced Cosmetics new Born This Way Concealer. This is supposed to be a radiant concealer that is formulated with coconut water to give a hydrating punch to the skin.

While at GenBeauty, I got properly matched to my color, and I ended up walking away with Light Medium. Below is a comparison swatch including two of my other go-to concealers, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard and Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Light Neutral. You can notice how yellow the Too Faced concealer color is compared to the other two swatches.

Below, you can see how wonderfully the concealer blends into the skin. It adds coverage, but it's not cakey. My left eye has only concealer while my right eye in the picture below is completely naked.

To give myself a better comparison, I paired the concealer with my current go-to under-eye color corrector, Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Corrector in Peach. In the picture below, we still have just the concealer on my left eye, but I have layered it with the color corrector on the right eye.

Of course, I need to show you the finished product with a full face! This is including foundation, color corrector, the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to set, and then eventually MAC Fix+ and Makeup Forever Setting Spray (I had a long day today).

My thoughts?

I will point out that the doe-foot applicator for the concealer is much more flexible than other concealers. This is a pretty lightweight concealer that blends out really well and doesn't feel very heavy under the eyes. I did use it to cover up a few blemishes and--despite it being very yellow in swatches--it covered nicely and blended well.

I did notice that the concealer settled a little bit in some lines under my eyes. I noticed this more when I set the concealer with my Ben Nye Banana Powder rather than the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (which strikes me as odd because the Banana Powder very rarely creases on me). I also felt the wear time on this was a little less than my regular concealer, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. It did wear well for about 5 hours before it started to break down. This is great for when I'm just going out, but it's not too realistic for days when I work 8.5 hours and then have an event right after, unfortunately.

At the end of the day, I do like this concealer. It's lightweight but it covers well, it blends very easily for days when I just want a little coverage but no foundation, and it is incredibly hydrating for the area under the eyes.

This concealer will launch on June 15th, 2016, and I hope you're all able to give it a go!

NYX Class of 2016 Prom Party

Hello, fellow beauty lovers! Last week was an eventful week with a lot happening in the beauty world (don't worry, there are more wrap-ups to come...). Last Thursday, I was lucky enough to get invited to the NYX Class of 2016 Prom Party here in Toronto, Canada. The attire was prom, and while not everyone was dressed in the theme, the people who were and the party itself surely did not disappoint.

I didn't go to prom my first time around. I went to my junior prom but I never went to my senior prom. I had moved to Canada for my senior year, I didn't know anyone well enough, I was bullied for that year pretty horrendously--I just didn't feel like it was worth the hassle. So I'm happy that I got a second chance as an adult with an open bar.

First off: my outfit. I have owned this skirt for a while but I haven't felt like there was a good enough reason to wear it. Thank you NYX Canada for giving me that reason last Thursday night.

I matched my makeup to my outfit using the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and NARS Audacious Lipstick in Juliette. I kept everything fun and coral for spring.

Inside, they had photo booths set up, games for prizes (I won some cute pink sunglasses), an open bar, and a DJ who played some pretty stellar tunes. Of course there was a goody bag at the end of the night which included a cute black backpack with the NYX Cosmetics brand on it, a coloring book and some colored pencils, and a palette that I'm excited to get my paws into.

Stay tuned for a review and (hopefully, if my computer cooperates) a video using this palette!
